President’s Perspective

How quickly time passes when we are passionate about our products and services.  Toogood Financial Systems Inc. (TFS) is celebrating its 13th year with continued growth and “evolution” of our services.  This is the result of our clients and their on-going support, for which, we are truly grateful.

 

Since the very beginning, TFS has maintained its core value in providing integrated, full-featured, products and services for the investment professionals that have benefited our clients with easy access to information and improved efficiency.

As requested by our clients, TFS has introduced Portfolio modeling, Trade Order Management with FIX protocol, General Ledger and multi-class NAV processing, French language reporting, and many other new features.  These efforts will continue as our hallmark of our commitment to our clients.

As we look forward, TFS has several new product initiatives that will further enhance our client’s experience as well as address the ever changing regulations and the advancement of the investment offering.  Enjoy our first newsletter and I, personally, look forward to your questions and comments.

  

 

 

Evolution’s user interface is visually enhanced to offer ease of use and familiarity. 

 

Introducing the Toogood Tilde button:

Replacing the standard toolbar access, the Toogood Tilde offers centralized access to all features and functions of the application.

 
Contemporary Colours:

The title bars, borders, and background colour of all tools have a blue colour with orange highlighting.  The new colour theme in the redesigned application offers a consistent view among Evolution’s features.

 

Optional Display:

Accessibility to the fashion forward view is determined by the user’s Remote Desktop Connection Display options.  Specifying a higher Colour depth (15-bit or greater) automatically displays the redesigned version of the Evolution application.  Connecting with a lower setting presents the classic Evolution view with its traditional menus and colours.

 

 

 

The next version of Evolution contains many enhancements.  Here are a few highlights:

Account Explorer – redesigned and expanded search options

• “Quick custom advanced search” that can be populated with pre-defined search criteria
• “Linked accounts” that allows for grouping of accounts for selection and for combined reporting

Information on all enhancements will be available in the upcoming 3.22 Release Notes document.  

 

 

 

This section explores features and functions, which may be undiscovered or queried by experienced Evolution operations.

The emphasis for this issue is on Toogood and Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS).

Q: Is Toogood GIPS compliant?

A: Toogood Financial Systems Inc. continues to provide portfolio management and performance measurement application to the investment community.  A hallmark of the Toogood application is its methodology and formula for the calculation of performance measurement and composite management in accordance with the evolving industry standards such as AMIR PPS and, more recently, the Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS).

In following the GIPS recommendation, the Toogood application provides performance calculations and reporting using, but not limited to, the following:

• Modified Dietz, time weighted, formula for its rate of return (RoR) calculation
• Minimum of monthly performance measurement RoR
• Geometric linking of performance for annualized RoR reporting
• Cash flow event vs. non-cash flow event processing for performance RoR
• Account aggregation for specific cash balance allocation
• Composite management calculation and reporting utilizing the beginning market value weights

Please note that although the Toogood application calculates and reports performance measurement and composite management in accordance with the GIPS recommendation, it is the responsibility of each firm to establish the procedures and internal governance of the performance calculation and reporting in order to be "verified" as GIPS compliant.  Using the Toogood application will facilitate the firm to become GIPS compliant.
